Andy Grabia is a freelance writer and communications consultant. A former educator, he has worked in government relations, marketing and communications, social media, and as a speechwriter for the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Canada.
Andy started blogging in 2004, and has been blogging non-stop ever since. After creating, writing and then moving on from various other, moderately successful blogs (The Cosby Sweater, The NQ and SportsMatters), Andy joined Matt Fenwick and Hugh McKenzie in June 2006 as a writer for the already popular and critically acclaimed hockey blog, The Battle of Alberta.
From 2005-2008, The Battle of Alberta was one of the most popular hockey websites on the Internet. It was mentioned, featured, and praised throughout the blogosphere, on sites like Out of Left Field, Puck Daddy, Off Wing Opinion, Kukla’s Korner, From the Rink, and Deadspin, as well as in the Edmonton Journal, the Calgary Herald, the Vancouver Province, the Globe & Mail, the National Post, La Presse, Newsweek, SportsBusiness Daily, the New York Times and on Hockey Night in Canada. Matt and Andy also appeared as participants on the CBC game show Test The Nation.
